European Mountain Running Championship – Telfes Austria Sun 12th July
Katie Makes Top Ten- With Team Bronze
Many congratulation to Katie Ingram for her superb run in Telfes, finishing in 9th place overall. The course of 9.5 k with 3116 ft of climbing is typical of the European mountain races, with most of the running on stone shale trails. This course was typical, but it did have a sting in the tail, as the last kilometre of running climbed a massive 1200ft making the burn pretty intense. Running for GB, Katie ran 58.37 and was second counter in the team just three seconds behind Kate Goodhead’s 58.34. Rebecca Robinson (60.46) made up the team finishing in 17th place. The course was very narrow at one stage with little chance of passing and Rebecca was held up initially and back in the 40’s until her strong finish on the steep climb pulled back the deficit to 17th. Claire McKittrick (62.40) the fourth GB team member completed the course in 28th place, 64 ladies ran from 16 countries. Italy was first team with Switzerland second.
