Auld Lang Syne 31st December 2014
A large field of almost 400 started this fell race from Howarth with conditions far from ideal – very muddy and extremely cold. This also had two Olympians running; namely the Brownlee brothers swapping their Tri-Suits for fell shoes and between them they led the field around the snow and ice covered fells. Eventually Alistair won as he did last year with Jonny third. Just goes to show that they do not forget their roots.
Our first runner home was new signing Killian Mooney in 15th place and next was Ian Conroy 52nd flying in from Ireland to take part. Tony Hesketh in 147th won the O/60 award just over a minute ahead of Paul Boardman.
Everyone was awarded a bottle of beer and the prizes were the usual high standard.
