Lancashire Championships 25th and 26th May Blackpool

The Lancashire Championships were held on Saturday and Sunday 25th and 26th of May in glorious sunshine at Blackpool, the club had only 4 representatives competing U13’s girls Evie Barclay and Katie Shingler, U15’s Hannah Stephenson and U17’s Sophie Williams. It turned out to be an unbelievable 2 days for our girls, each of them performing superbly in all their events and winning many.

Hannah competed only on Saturday in the 300 metres where she ran a superb 43.9 winning the race and becoming Lancashire champion. Sophie competed on both days on Saturday she ran the 100 metres running 13.6 but not managing to get into the final. She did manage to get into the final of the Long Jump with a jump of 4.33 and finished 4th in Javelin and 4th in Shot Putt on Sunday, having decent performances in all events.

Evie and Katie had 2 fantastic days, between them they had 4 firsts, 3 seconds, 2 thirds, 2 fourth’s and a 6th position. Both the girls had 2 firsts, Katie winning the Long Jump and High Jump with jumps of 4.44 and 1.37 respectively, while Evie had a 1st in Javelin throwing 25.17 and won the 70mHurdles final in an exciting race. Both Evie and Katie ran identical times of 12.1 but Evie was given the winner and so broke the Lancashire record.

Katie had 2nd’s in the 70mHurdles and Shot Put and 2 thirds in the 100 metres and 200 metres running 13.5 and 28.7 in the final. Meanwhile Evie came 2nd to Katie in the High Jump with 1.25cm, 4th in Shot Putt and 4th in the 800 metres final with a good 2.35. She was also in the 100 metre final with Katie and finished a good 6th position with 14.8 although she ran 14.4 in the heat.

So between the girls they had 5 first podium places and Katie managed podium places in all 6 events.
