Great Manchester Cross Country

The annual GMXC took place in wonderful sunshine at Woodbank Park Stockport on Saturday 5th January 2013. Just four Horwich senior men made the journey more to get some new year racing in. First home in this 4 lap 11.6km race was Doug Fleming in 53rd position in 53.08. John Parker was next home in 90th place in a time of with 66.17 with Gordon Stone completing the trio of finishers in 94th place in 70.29. The winner was Carl Hardman of Salford in 40.02 with Joe Bailey also of Salford in second. With Salford Harriers also in positions 4th and 5th they easily won the team award. The fourth runner who started but didn’t finish was Pete Ramsdale who fell on lap 1, attended the first aid tent and later that day spent 3 hours in A&E having his wounds cleaned (Ouch!).
