Standish 10k Trail Race – Sat 24th Oct.

Just half a dozen Harriers turned out for this by- annual race, with five vets in our line up. Paul Muller (28.09) was our first counter finishing 5th and of course first 0/50. Angela Allen ran well for her 43.38, and second lady, having had a tough week with the Tuesday and Thursday sessions and feeling a little heavy legged. Emma Perrin was our only non vet of the day finishing well in 35th overall and fourth lady, Emma too found the going tough with again no taper for the race. Pete Bland thought he would find it tough but had a cracker taking first 0/60 and running 47.14. Paul Murray continued with the age group wins running well for first 0/65 in 49.18, and Barry Allman (51.09) trying to get in some race time after his three month chest infection finished in 63rd. 109 ran.

If you think Paul Mullers time was a bit quick for the 10k course a mini mix up by a marshall on the course sent the first ten runners back before completing the full course. The race organiser handled the dilemma well giving out two lots of first five home prizes!
