Pennington Flash 5 Mile Trail Race 20th Sept
Neil Pendlebury (27.00) returned to his old stomping ground to race the local 5 mile trail race. Although he had not been well for a couple of days before the race it didn’t stop him from taking an early lead which he kept to the end winning by 23 seconds from training partner Tony Battersby (27.23) of Leigh. Colin Rigby (27.32) continued his short race program and was running with Tony for most of the race, but had to settle for third on the day, collecting the first 0/40 in the bargain. Karl Ward ran well for this 30.30 in 11th place and Barry Allman was back into race mode after a period off with a chest infection, placing 52nd in 36.48.
