Kinder Trog – 16m/3490ft Sun 14th June

Blue skies greeted me for the Kinder Trog last Sunday, so a good dollop of suncream was applied on arrival. At registration I noticed that two water stations had been placed on the course and that full waterproof body cover was required! which raised a few eyebrows. Once underway there was good support from the marshalls and mountain rescue teams. The water stations proved very popular as did the unofficial orange segment supplier in the latter stages. Despite turning my ankle on the smallest of stones, after traversing the Downfalls’ huge boulders without the slightest stumble, the finish field made for a much welcome sight. Therein lay a crowd of picnicers and runners having availed themselves of the refreshments on offer from the nearby scout hut. Managed to find another Harrier, after cooling off in a shaded stream (mainly the ankle), in Colin Waterworth. Who I spotted making use of some shaded grass after his exploits. And with that I headed for home, nursing an ever swelling ankle.
