Gravy Pud 5
I wasn’t sure if I would be attending this race, then somebody on the forum mentioned FREE cake in the pub afterwards and suddenly there was no decision to be made. 113 runners arrived to (eat cake) take part in this years NBLG (Northern Boys Love Gravy)- Gravy Pud 5. This 5 mile course offers a mix of fell running and trail running.
With the cold temperatures recently the ground was quite hard underfoot and a little icy in places. The race breaks you in gently with a nice steady incline before a short but good descent to the bridge crossing and the start of two climbs towards the races peak point, the later of which presents you with a good steep scramble to the top. From here it’s mainly flat or downhill on tracks and trails and through the woods towards the finish back along the cobbled road where you started.
Finishing in 87th position with a time of 55:50 I was the only Horwich runner taking part. This was an enjoyable race with a good mix of scenery (and cake).
