Mid Lancs Cross Country – Burnley 19th December
Our aim for this years cross country season was to gain promotion to the second division in the highly regarded Mid Lancs League, so yesterday we turned out 10 runners of which 8 were vets with an average age of about 60 and we were beaten, we were also beaten at Liverpool last month and now are only second in the third division, a division which we should be leading easily !! The next fixture is on the 16th January at Lawsons Ground Blackpool, we need to get the troops out and win this one, I will be chasing you all !!
Thanks to everybody who ran yesterday in cold but brilliant conditions for racing
5th Gary Priestley 33.58
22nd Alastair Murray 36.28
45th Steve Nolan 38.48
77th Doug Fleming 41.18
91st Garry Chadderton 41.49
152nd Pete Ramsdale 46.40
156th Pete Bland 47.15
169th Paul Murray 48.26
176th Gordon Stone 49.47
193rd Bazza Allman 53.36
A good performance from everybody who ran today and kept us in the hunt for promotion, especially good runs from Gary Priestley in 5th and Ali Murray in 22nd who also led us home in the Hospital run over 10.5 miles on Thursday, which incidently had another good turnout of about 10 runners.
Only 1 lady, Suzanne Budgett ran in the ladies race and had a stormer to finish in 9th place overall – well done Suzanne. Suzanne also ran the hospital run on Thursday and was first lady home.
Anyway enough grumping for today, you have three weeks to get ready for Blackpool and then the Pennine Bridleway Relay on the 31st January.
