Horwich Juniors Mid Lancs Successful Series.

Horwich Juniors Mid Lancs Successful Series.

A squad of Juniors took the chance to take on the last race of the Mid Lancs XC at Lancaster. In the Lower age group Ella Pendlebury gave another outstanding performance to claim 3rd on the day and giving Ella a well deserved 2nd overall in the series. Not to far behind was Freya Whittle giving Freya a final placing of 5th overall in the series. Not to be outdone Olivia Baker a good run on the day in 32nd.

New to the series Matthew Mair gave a hearty run and managed 9th in the race, a great race from this 9yr Old in the U11’s. But not having to run today was Matthew Flatters who had already wrapped up his 2nd place in the series from this young man.

Our U15 boys sole representation was Robert Gibson managing 15th on the day but more impressively a well earned 12th in the overall series. This is a tremendous result from Robert having found out at the start of the season he needed the aid of his inhaler on several runs to keep his breathing capacity functioning.

The pressure was on the final race for the U13 boys squad, trailing Blackpool going into the race they had to win outright to claim the title. The team of Lewis Wilkes, Luke Brindle, Kieran Kinealy, Thomas Massey & Robert Seddon were well and truly focused. The team knew what had to be accomplished, beside there was also some individual positions to settle. From the Start Lewis took the lead and it looked good for the rest of the squad all up in the top half of the race. The race turned out to be the best race for each individual in the squad with everyone finishing in the top 10. Lewis finished with a good lead over the field but Thomas made sure he was in next with a fabulous run, Thomas not a favourite of the flat. Luke was the 3rd giving Horwich 1,2,3. Not to be outdone Robert Seddon claimed 7th his best of the year with Kieran in 10th again his best of the year. Overall this gave Lewis 2nd & Thomas 3rd overall, not to be outdone Kieran managing 8th in the series, congratulations lads.

So it is my great pleasure to do this write up and declare HORWICH RMI U13 boys Mid Lancs XC Series Champions, the first time in the clubs history. This is added to their South East Lancs XC Series win & Red Rose XC series Wins
