Track and Field Athletics Open Meeting at Blackpoo
21 young Horwich RMI Harriers Athletes turned out to compete in the final outside Track and Field Athletics Meeting of 2010. On a sunny day, there were many “shining” performances from the Harriers, including some excellent debut performances.
One of the races of the day was the 800m heat of the Under 11 Girls, in which Katie Shingler raced with Shannon McClarence and Helena Norris. A thrilling and tough finish occurred with Katie just pipping Shannon to first place. In the 80m Sprint, Shannon managed to get her revenge and beat Katie in a very hard fought sprint.
A great debut performance was made by Declan Snape in the under 15 boys 100m with a time of 12.5s, plus a good 200m run with 25.5s.
James Lovell in the Under 13 Boys won Gold in the Long Jump with a magnificent leap of 4.36m.
