Report – Horwich RMI Harriers, Young Athletes League Warrington – 17th May

Horwich RMI Harriers maintained their winning form in the Young Athletes League at Warrington on Sunday. Despite atrocious weather conditions there were a number of great performances.

Once again Jamie Crompton was to the fore with a scintillating run in the 1500m steeplechase to record the fastest time in the country so far this year and then backed it up woth a win in the Javelin ! Also at U 17 Dylan Smith had a double win in the 100m and Long Jump whilst at U 15 level Matthew Ault won the High Jump and shot. In the U 13s there were strong firsts in the middle distance with Joseph Howe triumphing over 800m and Nathan Townsend doing likewise over 1500m.

In the U 17 Women there was a double first over 100m through Rachel Pearson and Tiffany Dacre and also in the Hammer with Benita Cornforth and Tiffany Dacre. At U 15 level Hannah Storey and Beth Miller were totally dominant winning both A and B races over 100m and 200m, whilst Laura Taylor and Gabrielle Whittle ensured a double first at U 13 level in the hurdles.

Overall the U 17 women, U 15 women and U 13 boys won their sections whilst all the other teams were second in their categories ensuring overall victory.
