Sale 10 – Sunday 2nd Aug.
It was a very successful outing for the small Horwich contingent who took to the roads around Wythenshawe Park. Katie Ingram was racing her first ten miler and was a little apprehensive of the distance but her time of 55.38 gave a clear indication that she was well able to race hard at this distance as she went second on the 10 mile national rankings for this year. It would have been first but Gemma Miles also took the opportunity to race at this distance for the first time and clocked 54.52 to win the race. In the menβs race new member Neil Pendlebury was home in a new PB of 53.03 for 10th place, and was happy with his time, he did comment that he would have been happier four seconds faster! Colin Rigby had set himself a target pace of 5.30, but found on the day that he was much fitter than he thought, running 53.42 (5.22) to take the first 0/40 prize and put a smile on his face, especially when he found out he is now second fastest 0/40 in the country over 10 mile this year. Alastair Murray was also in PB form running 55.31 for 18th place and was satisfied with his time considering he was not feeling 100%. This would easily have given us first team if Neil had been able to count. Karl Ward also ran well for 53rd place and a time of 61.22 which was fine considering that he had not tapered for the race and done ten mile in training the day before.
