Tebay Fell Race 8m/3000ft. Sat 20th June
British & English Championship Counter.
Gary Priestley made a rare appearance in a championship race and acquitted himself with flying colours finishing 24th and our first counter; his 1.16.3 48 time was a credit to him. James Logue (1.17.57) continued his excellent form of late just a minute behind Gary in 32nd place, with Dave Milliken close on his heels in 33rd (1.18.14).
James Kevan in 57th (1.22.50) did not have one of his better races, but had just returned back from Poland and had done little training whilst away!
Brian Walton (1.29.31) got a last minute entry and made good use of it finishing second 0/55 and a team counter. Suzanne Budget (1.32.39) continued her pursuit of the championship title with a solid second 0/45 finishing 140th overall and 11th lady. Mike Crook was next in, clocking 1.36.38 for his 172nd place. The strength on the 0/60 group is tremendous judging by Mick’s 6th place in it!
Lindsey Squires (1.37.33) showed Dad – Brent Brindle (1.38.35) – the way home – this time – pulling away to take a minute out of him. Steve Jackson (1.44.59) in 208th place was very pleased to get round the course and help out the vet team position. I have no doubt that Rachel Metcalfe (1.52.03) was even smiling after this race, supporting the ladies and making up the team. Pete Walkington (1.52.51) was not in ace shape – injury wise – but finished well in 255th. Ray Stafford (2.03 09) was well placed in his age group finishing 3rd 0/70. This just left the Geraldine Walkington who hobbled in after tweaking her back, which left her in walk mode, not a happy chappy!
Good turn out folks for a championship race, well done.
