This the final race in this years English Championships attracted runners from all over England trying to gain points and some medals. The courses where tough and in the wet conditions very difficult but all the Horwich runners aquitted themselves well to the courses.
The first race the U/8 saw ever present Theo Middleton and Grace Pendlebury finish in 13th and 6th. Both these athletes have done all the Championships and qualified of a Championship hoodie. In the U/10 girls we only had one runner, Freya Whittle, and she had a superb race to finish 3rd. This was enough to give her the Bronze medal in the Championships. The U/12 race saw some brilliant performances highlighted by Tom Massey who was second; his highest position in the Champs and this consolidated the Bronze Medal in the series. The surprise run of the day was Lucas Miliken’s who finished in 11th place after a very strong run. Despite getting boxed in at the start Toby Middleton ran well for 17th and this clinched a top ten finish overall. In the girls race the best run to date since moving up a category saw Ella Pendlebury finish 7th which bares well for next year. This cemented her position in the top ten. Lydia Johnson ran strongly for 17th place despite just moving into a new age group and she is another runner who will only improve next year.
