First Red Rose Cross Country

First Red Rose Cross Country

If you are going to run at Leigh on Saturday 28th September please read the following as Pete Ramsdale, Cross Country Captain will not be there and these instructions will help your day go smoothly.

Please look on the Red Rose Cross Country site for directions and race routes. Print out maps if you want – it will help you on the day understand the geography of the park.

Sat Nat code for the Leigh Sports Village – WN7 4JY (it’s on Atherleigh Way just past Asda)

The race distances are U11 2000m (1.2 miles) , U13 2500m (1.5 miles) and U15 4000m (2.4 miles)

Race start times U11 Boys 12.30pm, U11 Girls 12.45pm, U13 (all) 1.00pm and U15 (all) 1.15pm.

Arrive about an hour before your race. Go to the registration area (it will be near or in the stadium). Tell them on the desk you want to enter for the race series and give them the details of your runner (Name, DOB and age on 1st September) and the club – Horwich RMI Harriers. They will then give you a number. If you can take safety pins, 4 of them, and pin your number on the front of your running top. YOU WILL NOT BE ASKED FOR ANY MONEY. IF YOU ARE, SAY THAT HORWICH WILL SETTLE THE BILL. I have organised this.

Find the start area and familiarise yourself with the start (loop of the field first before you exit the field) and if you have time, walk the course. It always helps.

There is always a 5 minute warning gun to invite runners to the start line. Be warmed up and ready to race. After the race, keep warm and don’t get any mud in the car on the way home.

Results will be on a web site www.race-results.co.uk by the end of the day.

Enjoy the experience, especially if this is your first cross country experience for Horwich RMI Harriers.

** Keep your number for the whole of the cross country league **
