Northern Cross Country – Knowsley 26-01-13

Trio brave the winter elements.

Three Horwich RMI Harriers braved the harsh weather conditions on Saturday to compete in the Northern Cross Country Championships at Knowsley Safari Park. The six inches of snow overnight on Friday slowly turned into a complete mud bath for the men’s race over the championship distance of 12km. First home for Horwich was Dave Milliken who completed the course in 98th position in 48.14 with Bobby Kasabov next home in 57.41 and Pete Ramsdale completing the team in 70.15. The race was won for the fifth year in a row by Stockport Harrier Steve Vernon on 40.01. Nearly 600 in the race.

PS – I’ve had enough of this mud now – its time for a change – when is the next road race/fell race.

Peter Ramsdale

Next Horwich RMI Harriers fight for survival in the next round of the Mid Lancs Cross Country at Lancaster. Hope people are going to Blackburn on Sunday next week……..
