Long Mynd Valleys – English Championships Race 1

The first race of this year’s English Fell Championship was held on the 6th March in Church Stretton. Twelve harriers made the long drive to be met with a tough course of 11.5 miles and 4500ft of climb. First harrier home was Alastair Murray in 47th position and was satisfied considering a series of mishaps which resulted in arriving last at the car park for the race. Next harrier home was Mick Green, followed by Karl Ward, Simon Parkinson and Gary Chadderton, completing the mens team. The ladies fielded a team too with Geraldine Walkington leading the way ahead of Mary White and Margaret Huyton. Well done to everyone who ran.

Duddon Valley entries are now open and will probably fill up quickly so get your entry in. The next race is Mearley Clough on the 14th May, entries open on the 15th March.
