World Mountain Running Champs 2010

James Kevan competed for Ireland in the World Mountain Running Championships on the 5th September 2010 in Kamnik, Slovenia.

James qualified following the selection race in Djouce in the Wicklow Mountains Ireland in August when he finished 5th overall.

The World Championship race was held in the beautiful mountains of Slovenia, it was an uphill only race finishing at the top of Gradisce which is 1668m high on the Velika Planina. It was a very tough 12km climb. James enjoyed the experience and hopes to compete in the Worlds next year in Albania which will be an up and downhill race and also the European Championships in Turkey.  James finished 126th which is not bad in the world.

I don’t think that many athletes can have competed for two countries.

I have attached a couple of pictures of James taken during and after the world championship race.
