Fell Summary 1
There have been quite a few fell races over the last week or so with some notable performances for the club. Here is a summary of some results.
Hutton Roof
Saturday 29th May 2010
Two Horwichians took part, with Peter Leighton finishing 101st and Geraldine Walkington finishing 3rd LV50.
Paddy’s Pole
Tuesday 1st June 2010
Two more horwichians made there way over to Chipping for this low key midweek race in the Forest of Bowland. Martyn Bell finished a creditable 3rd behind the Hope brothers, and first V40. New member Mark Birbeck finished 38th.
Henderson’s End
Thursday 3rd June 2010
In another local race dominated by the local P&B contingent, Horwich had 12 runners out. It was a beautiful summers evening for the race starting from Rivington Barn, and visiting the Mast, Two Lads, and the Pike.
First home for Horwich was Simon Parkinson in 6th place, followed by Karl Ward in 12th, and Albert Sunter in 13th, also picking up first V50.

In the junior race, Jonathan Powis came second.
Duddon Valley
Saturday 5th June 2010
Only a week after running Jura, Mick Green was back in action again on the long course at Duddon Valley. Mick finished in a time of 3:39:33. Ed Swift was also out again (2 days after Henderson’s End) and completed the course in 5:53:37.
Gordon Stone opted to do the “short” course, completing in a time of 2:38:13. Presumably Gordon was taking it easy before starting his GR10 next weekend. Good luck Gordon!
PUMA Kentmere Trail
Saturday 5th June
Only one harrier made his way to Staveley for this trail race over the Garburn Pass. Tony Hesketh finished 35th overall and second V60, from 329 finishers.
Pen Y Ghent
Saturday 5th June 2010
Peter Leighton was out again at this race from Horton-in-Ribblesdale, finishing 58th of 131.
Edenfield
Sunday 6th June 2010
Michelle Devine took second place in the ladies race, and Colin Waterworth came 54th overall.
