ENGLISH FELL CHAMPS 2010 RACE 2 – CONISTON 9M / 3500′
Saturday 1st May 2010.
The weather stayed pretty good despite some forecasts for the second race of this years English Fell Champs. The route is a tough one, with a typically long lakeland climb for starters, it was hands on knees time for all but the elite. This is followed by some rough running between Wetherlam and Swirl How, and some good running from there to the Old Man, for those who have any good running left in them. To finish (you) off there is the classic descent off the Old Man, with a alot of route choice, and the potential to get lost in a quarry.
The race was won for the ninth time by Ian Holmes, taking full advantage of his descending skills, and route knowledge. The results for the harriers running was as follows.
