Two senior men competed at this year’s English Cross Country Championships at Roundhay Park in Leeds. The three lap 12k course was particularly muddy in places, in others provided good running and benefited the good climbers and descenders, in particular on “hill 60”. The weather stayed dry (just)and just warm enough for shorts. In the end the two Horwich Harriers in the field of 1428 finishers were separated by 23 places and 37 seconds with Pete Ramsdale 1225th in 60:57 and Gordon Stone, 1248th in 61:34. The race was won by Aldershot’s Andy Vernon in 38:01.
