Ready, Steady Go! Horwich RMI Harriers & AC for 2009
Horwich RMI Harriers & AC Juniors get set for the 2009 season, which started with a warm up for some of the Juniors at the recent indoor Open meeting at Sportcity, Manchester. 25 young athletes competed on the day, with many personal bests and at least 3 new club records.
Fine debut performances for the Girls came from Jodie McLaughlin, Jessica Clarke, Grace and Emily Shelmerdine. For the Boys, great debuts from Izaak Dickinson, Anthony Hulton, Keegan Edwards, Liam Wright and Thomas Gillett.
3 New club records came from Alex Woods in the under 11 Girls 200m with a fantastic time of 34.20s and Kai Brown in the Under 11 Boys 200m with a time of 33.90s.
Not to be left out was Jonah Saunders with a sizzling time of 10.10s, breaking the Club Record in the 60m sprint, finishing 3rd overall.
Callum Gordon won the Under 9 Boys 60m sprint in a blistering time of 10.30s, whilst Jennie Maher won the Standing Long Jump for the Under 11 Girls with a leap of 1.58m. Well done to Luke Anderton who won the Under 11 Boys standing long jump with 1.76m and Ellie Dacre who was 2nd in the Girls Soft Javelin.
Sophie Williams won the Soft Javelin in the Under 13 girls category, whilst Lauren Ryder & Gabrielle Whittle ran well in the 60m sprint. Amelia Atherton produced her best in the standing triple jump, whilst Natassia Dacre threw well in the Soft Javelin.
