Green Drive 5 – St Annes Sunday 19th.

A very good turn out of 377 for this popular 5 miler. Gareth Booth (27.29) led the way for the club in 8th with a time of 27.29, not quite as fast as he would have liked, but picking up the bronze medal for the Lancs County 5 mile championship –which was run within the race – helped a little. Alastair Murray showed he is retuning to form pretty quick, as he clocked 27.44 for 9th – and he was happy with his performance. Making up the team was Steve Nolan (27.50) and first 0/45 – in 10th which you would have thought would give us the team prize, but Blackpool pipped us by one place. We had good back up with Simon Parkinson (28.58) finishing fast and just getting in front of Glyn Kay (29.02) who ran well for 19th. Emma Perrin (31.00) was our sole lady rep, who was delighted with her time (PB) and position of 5th lady. Carl Balshaw clocked 32.45, with Colin Wood (33.05) not too far behind in 87th Pete Bland and Keith Tyrer ran as though on a training run, Pete working hard and Keith chatting. (see photo) Pete was happy with his time of (34.01) as he continues his recovery from injury. Barry Allman (36.40) continues to threaten Pete with severe competition, but his verbal tactics are having no effect!! AS yet. Derek Kay pulled a calf on the way round and jogged in.

Good race, nice atmosphere.
