Ribble Valley 10k Road Race, Clitheroe 27th December 2009
After a week of snow and ice this popular race with a reputation for fast times and a quality field went ahead in good conditions. This year the race also incorparated the Northern 10k champs. GB olympian and local runner, Tom Lancashire pulled ahead in the latter stages to win in a super fast 29.21. Another seven runners broke the 30 minute barrier.
First harrier home was Russell Maddams in 56th place in a brilliant time of 33.09, and was chased the whole way around by Alastair Murray who just missed out on a new PB and finished in 33.17. Next harrier was Katie Ingram in a superb 33.51 picking up the Northern Champs Silver Medal finishing second lady to another GB Olympian, Helen Clitheroe. Final harrier home was Ed Swift who finished an excellent 612th out of 906 finishers.
