Whernside Fell Race: Saturday 26th September 12miles/2972′ (Horwich fell championship race)

Nine Horwich members ventured to Dent to participate in Saturday’s Whernside race. This very runable race was made all the better by being graced with clear skies and fantastic sunshine. At the time of writing this report, full results were not available, so apologies for any errors. Graham Schofield was first home for Horwich in tenth position, collecting a Vet prize and maximum points in this Horwich fell championship counter. Just behind Graham was Mick Green in eleventh place, giving his new Horwich vest its first outing – and a very successful outing at that! Suzanne Budgett had a fantastic run, displaying her current fitness well, and taking the first female place (Her time being a full 12 minutes quicker than last year). The six other Horwich finishers, picking up useful championship points, were: Mark Leighton, Ian Hepburn, Doug Fleming, Rachel Metcalfe, Colin Waterworth and Mark Sammon.
