Gin Pit 5 – 2nd October 2011
Gin Pit 5
2nd October 2011
Nine Harriers turned out for the Gin Pit 5, the last of the Central Lancs Grand Prix races, and despite a little drizzle earlier in the day, the weather held for the fun run, and then the main 5 mile race at 11am.
Congratulations to James Kevan led from the start to win for a convincing win in 25:56, a margin of over a minute and a half ahead of Lewis Eccleston in 2nd place; Gareth Booth finished in 27:38 to take third place. This was Jame’s 6th outing in the Central Lancs Grand Prix and 6th outright win, which should therefore make him the overall winner, and today’s 3rd place should give Garth 2nd place overall in the Central Lancs Grand Prix, though we are waiting for the official final results to be produced.
David Jackson was our third finisher in 8th place to make up the team and take the team prize, narrowly beating the Astley and Tyldesley team by just 3 places. In the Clubs Road Championship, this will take David’s score to 190pts, retaking first place in the men’s overall positioning. Sean McMyler finished as the fourth Harrier and continues a busy race season, taking him to 188pts and 2nd place position in the club’s road championship for this year.
Danny Kevan, Carl Balshaw, Gordon Stone, Lawrence Pinnell, and Hazel Banks finished in good times, and well done to Hazel as this will leave her in first place for the clubs lady road championship this year.
Finally, thanks to Astley and Tyldesley for what was as always a well organised and enjoyable trail run.
