World Mountain Running Trophy Race. Crans Montana Switzerland 14th Sept.

This was the last time that an England team will run in the World Trophy race, with the IAAF finally recognising the sport and giving it full world championship status from next year, which will mean that only a GB team will compete from the home countries.

Katie Ingram was again representing her country and was part of a very strong England team who had high hopes of a team medal position. On the day thick cloud and continuous rain did not make for the usual carnival atmosphere, even so the ladies finished an excellent 4th in the world from 42 countries competing. Katie finished strongly in 30th place from 95 runners, a great run considering the tummy upset she had prior to the race. In the men’s race England finished in 6th overall with Rob Hope in 45th place.

The junior women where the hero’s of the day with Laura Park taking the individual gold medal with a brilliant run for a girl who still has two years left to run as a junior.
Great back up from Heather Timmins in 7th meant the girls also won the team award from Turkey – who were just three places behind them.

In the open race – run over the senior men’s course – James Kevan found time out from his work duties at the Inovate shoe stand to finish a fine 11th overall, off very little training due to injury.
