Thieveley Pike 26th Sept
A fine day with good conditions underfoot saw well over a hundred runners toe the line for this popular fell race just north of Burnley. Ian Conroy and his brother Patrick had flown in from Dublin to take part and Ian was rewarded with a fine win – his first in Horwich colours. Always in the leading group he made his break at the halfway point to win in 33.42. Next home was Graham Schofield 17th in 38.38 closely followed by Gary Chadderton two places behind in 39.18. Nick Kelly had a good race finishing in 26th with a time of 40.43. Tony Hesketh was 41st in 42.40 and Sandra Kelly took the L/O45 award in 47th with a time of 43.56. Doug Fleming was 71st in 46.42 and finally Patrick Conroy finished in 102nd in 54.27.
Thieveley Pike Junior Race
Four girls from Horwich ran this race and two where outright winners. Milly Bailey led all the way to win the U/12 race beating all the boys too. Lydia Johnson 4th finished despite losing her shoe early on. In the U/10 race Freya whittle showed everyone a clean pair of heels to win with Ellie Green third after a great run.
Till Hill Fell Race 17th Sept
This race was unique in as much that it was 3.5 Miles all up hill finishing on top Longridge Fell. Suzanne Budgett had a great run but was narrowly beaten into second place by Sarah Ridehalgh of Accrington finishing in 10th place with Tony Hesketh in 11th a minute behind and taking the 1st O/65 award.
