2014 Key Priority Races
2014 – Key Priority Races
We advertised this workshop on the club website and facebook so it was great to get a good cross section of harriers turnout on Thursday evening to put their pennies worth in – we “collectively” identified key 2014 races that lend themselves to the club doing well at an individual and team level.
The selection is broad, covering all disciplines of races from XC, road and the fells – the aim being to block these dates into the diary NOW and plan accordingly for success.
Now that we know the dates, we can start to plan our training more effectively for the demands of each race. Social events can also be planned around these dates. For the fell runner all these races should feature anyway in a balanced racing programme to build that critical “flat speed” !
We want to create a real frenzy and belief that these events are ours to dominate, really supporting each other and show other clubs that we have got our act together – Individual and team club honours are very real for the Red Army !
Also included in the race programme are “masters” races and again we have the depth of talent to do extremely well in these races.
Further communication on ALL other races will be announced in due course such as the Central Lancs GP etc and of course these will be well supported and encouraged but the “key races” are ones that you the member have voiced as important.
We have also pencilled in a training weekend and provided 2 provisional dates – please communicate with Steve Pearson, Ali Murray or Martyn Bell if you wish to attend and which proposed dates work for you.
