25th World Mountain Running Championship Campodolcino Italy. Sunday 6th Sept
Katie 7th in the World Mountain Running Championship.
Katie Ingram moved up from last years 30th place to a fantastic 7th overall on this years up & down championship course in Italy at the weekend. Her time of 44.59 was equal to 6th placed Anna Pichrtrova of the Czech Republic, and only two seconds from Halya Bastug of Turkey in 5th. Team mate Sarah Tunstall was 4th in 44.48 and with Kate Goodhead in 11th running 45.24 the GB ladies collected the team silver medals. Only the home country team of Italy – who finished 1-2-3 kept them from the winner’s rostrum. Certainly being at altitude and on their own course the Italian squad made full use of their local advantage. There were 35 countries attending the Championship this year with over 330 athletes competing, and as can be seen in the results, the African athletes are beginning to make in roads into this endurance discipline as well!
Katie will now look forward to the Commonwealth races at Keswick on weekend of 19/20th Sept when she races both the uphill only race on the Friday and the up and down race on the Sunday.
