South East Lancs – Clayton Vale – Saturday 17th Nov

A select band of Horwich runners made the journey to central Manchester for the second of the South East Lancs Cross Country races. The relatively flat course was good for speedy running with not much heavy mud but some slippy patch’s round the four lap course for the men and three laps for Debbie Campbell.

The lady’s race had the sole representative of Debbie who ran a controlled race chasing the lead 3 runners all the way. She completed the course in 4th in a time of 30.27 with the race winner Clare Platt of Manchester YMCA in 29.13.

The senior men’s race had Tony Hesketh and Pete Ramsdale battling on lap one with Tony pulling away after lap 1 to be first Horwich man back in 48.29. Tony was 3rd V60 too. Pete completed the course in 50.52 (8th V55) while John Parker (V70) was back in 53.05 and 1st in his category. Gordon Stone completed the Horwich continent in 56.28.

In the centenary year since the formation of the South East Lancs Cross Country it’s special to be involved in the league this year.
