Red Rose X/C Blackburn Sat 3rd Oct

It was a good turn out in this the first of the Red Rose fixtures, especially with it being re-routed from Bury. Not a big turn out from the club, but a good chance to try out the spikes for the first time and reacquaint with a course that will be well visited before the cross country season has finished.

Graham Schofield (40.53) marches on with his super performances being out first counter and first 0/50 in 18th place overall. Rob Haworth (42.22) continued our dominance of the 0/50’s taking second in this age category in 30th overall. Doug Fleming (7th 0/50) was next in, clocking 44.13 for 47th. Even our next runner was a 0/50, Colin Waterworth in 50.00 dead. But a great run from Chairman Pete Bland moved us up a category as Pete took the first 0/60 in 50.12, well chuffed with that.
Pete Ramsdale added another to the 0/50 team finishing well in 51.58.

Just two ladies turned out on the day, both taking first in their category, Julie Haworth
claimed the first 0/40 by a clear 50 seconds in a fast time of 24.05 putting her 11th on the day. New member Lesley Fisher showed her potential for the club – even if not 100% fit yet – by taking the first 0/50 in 12th overall and her time of 24.37 was nearly a minute faster than the next lady in her age group, well done ladies super runs.
